Dynamic icons

The Dynamic icons screen controls live Clock and Calendar icons on the homescreen: the clock hands move with the time, and the calendar shows today’s date. Open it from the home mosaic. Swipe Apply to save, or Cancel to discard.

When they are available

  • With a theme pack that includes dynamic assets (dynclock/ and/or dyncal/), you can turn them on when applying icons (Icons configure page) or later on this screen. The icons use that theme’s look.
  • With the default (stock) look — after restore, or if no icon pack is active — you can still enable live clock and calendar using Sailfish’s built-in icons.
  • If the active theme pack has no dynamic assets, the screen explains that and the switches are not offered. Apply a pack that includes them, or restore the default look. On the home mosaic the Dynamic icons tile subtitle shows Not available.

Enable when applying icons

On the Icons configure page, if the pack supports it, you will see:

  • Dynamic clock icon — show the current time on the Clock launcher icon
  • Dynamic calendar icon — show today’s date on the Calendar launcher icon

You can enable either or both. Choices are saved when you tap Apply.

Change later

Open Dynamic icons to turn each option on or off without re-applying the whole theme. The preview shows the live clock and calendar artwork. Apply writes the switches; Cancel leaves the current settings.

Tips

  • Dynamic icons need the Muoto launcher icon service running (installed with the app).
  • If the homescreen still shows a static icon after enabling, use Restart homescreen from the home pulley menu.
  • Pack authors: see DynCal and DynClock for asset layout.
